Learning benefits
- 💡 This activity stimulates your baby's senses through touch, sight, and sound, promoting brain development. It also encourages early language skills as you describe what they are experiencing and strengthens the special bond between you and your baby through shared discovery and gentle interaction. Milestones this age: Begins to get to a sitting position without help • Crawls forward on belly • Uses hands to hold on to things and get to a sitting position • Says "mama" or "dada" and understands "no" • Looks for things he sees you hide • Bangs two things together.
Safety notes
- ⚠️ Always supervise your baby closely during outdoor activities. • Ensure the outdoor area is free of any small objects that could be choking hazards (anything smaller than a toilet paper roll opening). • Protect your baby from sun exposure with shade or appropriate sun protection. • Be aware of insects and plant irritants. • Practice safe sleep: Babies sleep Alone, on their Backs, in a Crib. No loose blankets, pillows, or toys in the crib. • No screens for babies under 18 months, except for live video chat. • No honey for babies under 1 year old. • Avoid foods that are choking hazards like whole nuts, whole grapes, hot dog rounds, popcorn, and hard candy. When to call your pediatrician: Seems very floppy, like a rag doll • Doesn't try to get to a sitting position • Doesn't babble ("mama," "baba") • Doesn't respond to sounds around her • Doesn't try to get things that are in reach.
Cleanup
- 🧹 Brush any grass or leaves off your baby's clothes and skin. Wash hands if needed. Pack up your blanket and toys, leaving the outdoor area as you found it.
