1. Pip Playbook Is For Parents — Children's Privacy (COPPA)
The Service is directed at adults (parents, guardians, caregivers), not at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and children are not permitted to create accounts.
Milestone features present general educational information adapted from public developmental guidance; we do not perform medical or developmental screening.
The only child-related information we store is what you, the parent, choose to provide: a child's nickname or first name and age (or birth month/year), used solely to personalize activity recommendations. We deliberately collect nothing else about children — no photos are required, no location, no behavioral tracking of children. If you submit a community photo that includes your child, that is your voluntary choice as their parent, governed by Section 7 of the Terms of Service, and you can delete it at any time.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or that we have collected a child's personal information directly from a child, contact support@pipplaybook.com and we will delete it promptly.
2. What We Collect
You provide: email address and password (or Google login); child nickname + age; category and indoor/outdoor preferences; favorites, planner entries, and shopping lists you create; milestone checklist responses you record for your children (used only to display your family's milestone progress and suggest related activities; never shared, never used for advertising, deleted with your account); community photos or reviews you choose to submit; messages you send to support.
Collected automatically: basic usage events (pages/activities viewed, features used, signup and subscription events), device and browser type, approximate region from IP, and cookies (see Section 6). We use this to run the Service, fix problems, and understand which activities and features people find useful.
Payment information: processed entirely by Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record. We never see or store your full card number. We receive from Paddle only what we need to manage your subscription (e.g., plan, status, last-4 digits, renewal date).
We do not collect: children's photos or data beyond what parents voluntarily provide as described above; precise location; contacts; or anything from third-party data brokers.
3. How We Use Information
To provide and personalize the Service (age-matched recommendations); to process subscriptions and send transactional email (receipts, trial reminders, password resets); to send the weekly activity email and product updates if your email toggles are on (you can turn these off in account settings or via the unsubscribe link in any email); to moderate community submissions; to analyze aggregate usage and improve the Service; to prevent fraud and abuse; and to comply with law.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not use your data or your child's information for third-party advertising.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in account settings — this permanently deletes your profile, children profiles, milestone checks, growth entries, keepsakes, activity completions, uploaded photos, unlock history, complimentary-access feedback, invite-code redemptions, support feedback tied to your email, and your subscription record, and cancels any active subscription. Favorites and planner entries are stored on your device; clearing browser data or deleting the app on that device removes them.
Usage analytics events (page views, feature interactions) are not tied back to you after deletion — the user_id on those events is unlinked so the events remain only as anonymous aggregates. Some records we must retain for a period afterward (e.g., payment records for tax and accounting law). Encrypted database backups are retained on a rolling basis by our infrastructure provider and cycle out over time; deleted data is removed from live systems immediately and ages out of backups as they roll over.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
Everyone: the account page provides self-service email/password changes and full account deletion. For anything else, email support@pipplaybook.com — we respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CPRA. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
EU/UK residents (GDPR): our legal bases are contract (providing the Service), legitimate interests (security, improving the Service), and consent (optional emails, analytics cookies — withdrawable anytime). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Data is processed in the United States; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses with our processors.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures: encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls, and payment handling delegated entirely to Paddle.com as our Merchant of Record. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
9. Changes
We'll post updates here and update the date above; for material changes we'll notify you by email or in-app notice.
