Safety notes
- ⚠️ Children must wear UV-blocking sunglasses at all times during this activity to protect their eyes from the high-intensity focal point. The focal point of a Fresnel lens can quickly reach temperatures over 300 degrees Fahrenheit, so direct adult supervision is required to ensure fingers stay clear of the hot light beam.
Cleanup
- 🧹 Carefully remove the sticky wooden skewers and dispose of them in a trash bin. Peel the duct tape off the cardboard box, retrieve the reusable Fresnel lens sheet, wipe it clean with a damp microfiber cloth to remove any sugar residue, and store it flat in a folder.
