Learning benefits
- 💡 Kneading the dough and pressing the Cookie Cutters strengthens hand muscles and develops fine motor control. Following the sequential steps from measuring the All-Purpose Flour to placing crackers on the Baking Sheet reinforces sequencing skills and the concept of cause and effect in a tangible way.
Safety notes
- ⚠️ An adult must handle all oven-related tasks, including placing the Baking Sheet inside and removing it, as the oven and sheet will be extremely hot. The baked crackers will be very hard and are not suitable for eating, as they are a salt-dough craft. Ensure children do not eat the raw dough, which contains a high concentration of Table Salt.
Cleanup
- 🧹 Soak the main mixing bowl and Rolling Pin in warm, soapy water to dissolve any dried dough. Wipe down countertops to remove all traces of All-Purpose Flour. Compost the leftover stems from the Fresh Rosemary Sprigs and Fresh Thyme Sprigs.
