- 💡 Wrapping the Cotton Twine around the stick shapes develops fine motor control and hand-eye coordination. Comparing the lengths of the resulting twine pieces provides a tangible, kinesthetic understanding of the abstract mathematical concept of perimeter, reinforcing one-to-one correspondence and comparison skills.
Safety notes
- ⚠️ Ensure Foraged Sticks are free of sharp points or splinters before handling. Adult supervision is required when using the Child-Safe Scissors to cut the Cotton Twine. Be mindful of tripping hazards created by the sticks and string on the ground.
Cleanup
- 🧹 Gather all used and unused Foraged Sticks and return them to a natural area or discard them in a yard waste bin. Roll any remaining Cotton Twine back onto its spool and collect all chalk and twine scraps for disposal in a trash receptacle.
