Learning benefits
- 💡 This activity enhances visual tracking and proprioception as children judge the speed and trajectory of a large, slowly falling object. It fosters cooperative communication, teaching kids to call out verbal cues and share space with peers. The upper body movements required to swing the foam paddles build core strength and arm coordination.
Safety notes
- ⚠️ Adult supervision is required at all times to prevent children from inhaling popping balloon pieces. Ensure the play area is completely clear of sharp corners, glass, or low-hanging light fixtures before starting. Players must refrain from swinging their foam paddles at each other's faces or bodies.
Cleanup
- 🧹 Peel the painter's tape slowly off the floor at a 45-degree angle to prevent leaving residue behind, then ball it up and discard it. Have an adult carefully deflate the giant balloons using a small pin if they are not being saved for future play. Stack the foam pool noodle paddles neatly inside the plastic laundry basket for easy storage.
