Learning benefits
- 💡 This activity teaches the basics of physics and structural engineering through hands-on stacking and balancing of diverse materials. Children practice spatial awareness and geometry as they align square corners and assemble a triangular roof. It also refines fine motor coordination and finger strength through delicate squeezing, placing, and balancing.
Safety notes
- ⚠️ Supervise children closely when using a toaster or hot oven to prep the waffles. Ensure any knives used to slice waffles into strips are handled solely by an adult. Double-check for ingredient food allergies, especially regarding wheat, gluten, or soy elements in pretzels and waffles.
Cleanup
- 🧹 Wipe down the work surface with a warm, damp microfiber cloth to easily dissolve sticky icing spills. Store extra waffle and pretzel logs in airtight plastic bags for snacks, and shake any loose green coconut into a compost bin.
