- 💡 This activity builds executive function as your child follows a sequence: board, buckle, announce, serve, and land. Pretend passenger care practices social scripts like greeting, offering choices, and responding kindly when something changes. Handling cups, seatbelts, and a tray gives fine motor practice without needing a craft project. When you add delays, turbulence, or nervous passengers, your child gets a playful chance to practice co-regulation and flexible thinking.
Safety notes
- ⚠️ Use only sturdy chairs on the floor, and leave a clear aisle so children do not trip while carrying the pretend snack cart. Keep scarves and blankets loose across stuffed animals' laps only; do not tie fabric around any child's body, neck, chair, or toy. If serving real food or drink, have children sit still to eat and avoid hard choking-risk snacks for younger players. Remind kids that climbing over chair backs, stacking chairs, or pretending to shut someone in the "airplane" is not part of this flight.
Cleanup
- 🧹 Make cleanup the final cabin crew duty: collect cups, return snacks to the kitchen, fold scarves or blankets, and park chairs back where they belong. Let your child choose one stuffed passenger to be the last one off the plane and say, "Thank you for flying with us." Wipe any snack crumbs from the chair area so the room is reset.
