Learning benefits
- 💡 This activity combines physical movement with spatial tracking, helping children internalize the relative sizes and order of the planets. Balancing on one foot strengthens ankle muscles and core stability, while leaping over the 8-inch obstacles builds bilateral coordination and lower-body explosive power.
Safety notes
- ⚠️ Ensure the jumping surface is completely dry and free of loose gravel to prevent slipping. Supervise children closely when they are jumping over the 12-inch cardboard tube obstacles to ensure they do not trip or land awkwardly on the edges.
Cleanup
- 🧹 Wipe any acrylic paint residue from skin using warm soapy water and a washcloth. Store the reusable foil craters, painted tubes, and polished stones in a medium plastic bin for future play, and wash the chalk drawings off the driveway with a garden hose using a high-pressure nozzle.
