- 💡 This activity strengthens fine motor skills as babies grasp, release, and manipulate objects. It also introduces early cognitive concepts like object permanence (things still exist even when you can't see them) and cause-and-effect thinking, laying essential groundwork for future learning. Safety notes
- ⚠️ Always supervise your baby during this activity. • Ensure all objects are larger than 1.25 inches in diameter to prevent choking hazards. • Check for any loose parts or broken pieces on toys before play. • Always place your baby Alone, on their Back, in a Crib for sleep. • No screens for babies under 18 months, except for live video calls with loved ones. • Never give honey to babies under 1 year old. • Keep floors clear of small objects that could be choking hazards. • Ensure the container is stable and cannot easily fall on your baby or trap them. When to call your pediatrician: Seems very stiff, with tight muscles • Seems very floppy, like a rag doll • Uses only one side of body • Does not respond to sounds or tries to say sounds • Does not look at things that are far away • Isn’t trying to get objects that are in reach (by 9 months)
Cleanup
- 🧹 Gather all objects and the basket, placing them back in their designated storage spot. Give any drooled-upon toys a quick wipe down or wash as needed.
