- 💡 This activity helps your baby develop object permanence, a crucial cognitive skill that allows them to understand that objects continue to exist even when they can't see them. It also strengthens fine motor skills as they reach and grasp the cloth or toy, and encourages problem-solving as they try to uncover the hidden item. Milestones this age: Babies at this age are often starting to sit without support, transferring objects from one hand to another, responding to their name, and looking for dropped objects. They might also begin to babble with different sounds and show stranger anxiety. Your baby is developing a sense of curiosity about the world around them.
Safety notes
- ⚠️ Always supervise your baby during this activity to ensure their safety. • The toy used should be larger than 1.25 inches in diameter to prevent choking hazards. • Ensure the cloth is lightweight and breathable and cannot pose a suffocation risk. • Remember the ABCs of Safe Sleep: Alone, on their Back, in a Crib. • Avoid screens for babies under 18 months, except for live video calls with family. • Never give honey to babies under one year. When to call your pediatrician: If your baby isn't bearing some weight on their legs, doesn't babble, isn't showing any affection for caregivers, or doesn't respond to sounds, it's a good idea to chat with your pediatrician about these observations. They can offer guidance and support.
Cleanup
