Learning benefits

  • 💡 This activity helps your baby develop crucial self-feeding skills, strengthening their oral motor muscles used for chewing and swallowing. It also supports sensory exploration as they discover new tastes and textures, and enhances fine motor control as they practice grasping and bringing food to their mouths.

Safety notes

  • ⚠️ Always supervise your baby closely during mealtimes to prevent choking. • Ensure all food is cut into appropriate stick shapes or very soft, mashable pieces to minimize choking hazards. • Never offer whole nuts, grapes, hot dogs, popcorn, or hard candy to babies. • This activity is for complementary foods; breast milk or formula remains the primary source of nutrition during this age. • Remember to follow safe sleep guidelines: Alone, Back, Crib. • No screens for babies under 18 months, except for live video chats with family or friends.

Cleanup

  • 🧹 Wipe down the high chair tray and baby’s hands and face with a warm, damp cloth. The splash mat can be shaken off or wiped clean. Any uneaten food should be discarded.
