Learning benefits
- 💡 This activity gently introduces your baby to solid foods and the experience of spoon-feeding, laying the groundwork for healthy eating habits and independent feeding. It encourages the development of oral motor skills crucial for eating and speech, as well as fine motor skills as they begin to interact with the spoon.
Safety notes
- ⚠️ Always supervise your baby during feeding. • Ensure purees are smooth and thin to prevent choking. • Check food temperature carefully; it should be lukewarm, not hot. • Introduce new single-ingredient foods one at a time, waiting 3-5 days between new foods to check for allergies. • Choking hazards: Avoid whole nuts, grapes, hot dog rounds, popcorn, and hard candy. • Remember "Alone, Back, Crib" for safe sleep: always place your baby to sleep alone, on their back, in a crib or bassinet. No loose blankets, pillows, or crib bumpers. • No screens under 18 months, except for live video chats. • No honey under 1 year of age.
Cleanup
- 🧹 Wipe your baby's face and hands with a warm, damp cloth. Wash the spoon and bowl with soap and water.
