Learning benefits

  • 💡 This activity not only helps you create a safer environment for your increasingly mobile baby but also strengthens your bond through shared exploration and encourages their gross motor development. It helps caregivers anticipate potential dangers by actively seeing the world from their baby's perspective, promoting proactive safety measures.

Safety notes

  • ⚠️ Always supervise your baby during playtime. Ensure all small objects (anything smaller than a toilet paper roll, or less than 1.25 inch diameter) are out of reach. • Secure all electrical cords and outlets. • Use safety gates for stairs and off-limit areas. • Remember "ABC" for safe sleep: Alone, Back, Crib. No loose blankets, bumpers, or toys in the crib. • Never leave a baby unattended in or near water. • No screens for babies under 18 months, except for live video chat with family. • No honey for babies under 1 year old. • Avoid giving whole nuts, grapes, hot dog rounds, popcorn, or hard candy to babies due to choking hazards.

Cleanup

  • 🧹 Simply gather any baby-proofing notes you made. Secure any newly identified hazards, and put away the play mat or blanket.
