Learning benefits
- 💡 This activity gently introduces the concept of a comfort object, which can become a significant source of emotional security for your baby as they grow. It aids in developing self-soothing skills, promotes sensory exploration through touch, and strengthens the parent-child bond through shared, comforting moments.
Safety notes
- ⚠️ Always supervise your baby during this activity. Ensure the comfort object is breathable, free of small parts (larger than 1.25 inches diameter), and has no loose strings that could pose a choking or strangulation hazard. • Never place loose blankets, pillows, or weighted sleep sacks in a crib with a sleeping baby. Always follow safe sleep guidelines: Alone, Back, Crib. • No screens under 18 months, except for live video chat with family. • Avoid honey under 1 year of age. • Be mindful of potential choking hazards like whole nuts, grapes, hot-dog rounds, popcorn, and hard candy for babies and young children.
Cleanup
- 🧹 Gather the comfort object and any playmats. Store the comfort object in a clean, easily accessible place so it's ready for comforting moments with your baby. Keep it clean by washing regularly according to its care instructions.
